Ahead Of The Game
Ahead Of The Game was published as a featured
editorial in the Atlanta Constitution. It focused on the-then
breaking issue of young basketball players going directly
to the NBA after little or no time in the college ranks.
The editorial centered on Kevin Garnett and Stephon Marbury
who had just left Georgia Tech after his freshman season.
1996 - Key To The City Award: Myrtle Beach, SC
Awarded the Key to Myrtle Beach for my work directing the
ESPN/SSA team documenting the BeachBall Classic for three
years. The BeachBall Classic is a prestigious annual national
high school basketball tournament. SSA gave national attention
to then high school stars, Kobe Bryant, Baron Davis, and
Tim Thomas... to name a few. The Key sits, unceremoniously,
in my closet and I am not sure what it will unlock, but
one of these days will return and give it a try.
1995/96: Student Sports Magazine
Authored articles for this national magazine on a 16-year
old Quincy Carter (QB of Dallas Cowboys) and chronicled
the ABCD/Adidas all-star basketball camp in New Jersey.
